GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S FIRST ADULT BALLET SCHOOL
Adult Ballet is fun, challenging, artistic expressive, cardiovascular, strengthening, and it makes you feel great! There has been a 70% increase in attendance at Adult Ballet in the UK in the last year, and for good reason. It increases core strength, it tones muscles, helps with flexibility and increases stamina.
Five different courses -
A - ADULT FOUNDATION ISTD GRADE WORK - Over a ten week course we cover the basic ISTD Ballet Syllabus from Primary to Grade 5 allowing complete beginners to build a foundation on which to progress. (This course has been popular with experienced dancers looking for a refresher after years away from the barre!)
B - RAD SILVER SWANS choreography based syllabus for over 55s - Katherine is was one of the first 25 teachers to be trained to teach RAD Silver Swans which has proved an enormously popular course. Choreographies are based on popular ballets such as Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake.
c - PRIVATE LESSONS - Barre-only Ballet Fitness Booster - CLASSIC - These are 1:1 or 1:2 classes given in a private ballet studio in Uley. These courses mean that those new to dance can work at their own pace before, ideally, joining a group class.
BREAST SURGERY - These are MacMillan subsidised lessons available for pre and post breast surgery (due to cancer). They help with preparation and recovery of fitness and muscle tone.
D - STRETCH AND STRENGTHEN - This half hour class stretches and strengthens the body from top to toe (based on yoga, floor- based pilates and ballet exercises) providing a good pre-class warm up but also a stand-alone lesson.
E - GENERAL CLASS - This long established class starts with a warm up at the Barre, Centre Practice and Adage (slow sustained movements) Allegro (small and big jumps) and finally a cool down. And all to lovely, soul enriching classical (and less classical) music. This is not a beginners' class but the exercises are structured so that they can be done at several levels.
